Situation

Canobbio settlement is of ancient origin, well exposed to the sun, located in the outskirts of the city, stretched out on the promontory, which breaks the Cassarate Valley, with its church and the extreme eastern limit of the old outside the nucleus, where enchanting views of the the gulf. Below, the gardens planted with vines Chiosi then. To the west, guarding the town, on the axis of the hill of San Bernardo Comano, is the ancient place of worship dedicated to the saint, always very dear to us, which dominates one spur. And at the foot of the hill where Trevano at least a thousand years ago there was already a castle, as if placed there to defend the outpost Canobbio. The original nucleus was formed at the top of the hill and south and that is where they were put to light evidence of ancient settlements. What follows has been developed mostly along the old road linking the city and Tesserete. The Piazzora and Colombaro Square, in addition to the churchyard, are the only widening of roads that have always been meeting places. "Balcony of Lugano" is appropriate that the caption on the postmark of Canobbio accompanies the glimpse of the Gulf with a focus on the church of San Siro.
